The variation of surface heat fluxes during Arabian Sea monsoon experiment

چکیده
Direct measurement of radiative fluxes on board ORV Sagar Kanya were made during Arabian Sea Monsoon Experiment (ARMEX) phases I & II for a total 120 days. The variation surface heat has been studied in this article. Negative values net flux are predominant the active phase monsoon. incoming short wave radiation is minimum 3 August 2002 and 8 June 2003 association with heavy rainfall. SST 2° C higher Warm Pool (WPE) (ARMEX-II 2003) than Offshore Trough (OSTE)-ARMEX-2002. Also, mean 2.4° WPE OSTE June. During OSTE, showing negative correlation (- 0.75) wind speed positive (0.52 0.48) latent respectively. Where as WPE, having (0.74) 0.42) 0.48). advection strong vertical flux. March, April May June, July well WPE.

Arabian Sea response to monsoon variations
[1] This study aims to quantify the impact of strong monsoons on the mixed layer heat budget in the Arabian Sea by contrasting forced ocean general circulation model simulations with composite strong and weak monsoon winds. Strong (weak) monsoons are defined as years with zonal component of the Somali Jet being greater (smaller) by more than a standard deviation of the long-term mean of the Nat...
متن کاملeNd in sediments of the southeastern Arabian Sea: Impact of monsoon and surface water circulation
[1] Sr and Nd isotopic composition of silicate fractions of sediments have been measured in two well dated gravity cores from the eastern Arabian Sea archiving a depositional history of ∼29 and ∼40 ka. The Sr/Sr and "Nd in the northern core (SS‐3104G; 12.8°N, 71.7°E) ranges from 0.71416 to 0.71840 and −8.8 to −12.8; these variations are limited compared to those in the southeastern core (SS‐310...
متن کاملCarbon cycling in the northern Arabian Sea during the northeast monsoon: significance of salps
Winter cooling and mixing brings nutrients (nitrate and phosphate) to the surface waters over large parts of the northern Arabian Sea, but the rates of primary production as well as carbon export from the euphotic zone are not especially high during the northeast monsoon. A multi-disciplinary time-series study conducted over a period of 13 d around 21° N, 64° E during the northeast monsoon of 1...
متن کاملEffects of Orography and Surface Heat Fluxes on the South Asian Summer Monsoon
A high-resolution (40 km horizontal) global model is used to examine controls on the South Asian summer monsoon by orography and surface heat fluxes. In a series of integrations with altered topography and reduced surface heat fluxes, monsoon strength, as indicated by a vertical wind shear index, is highly correlated with the amplitude of the maximum boundary layer equivalent potential temperat...
متن کاملThe Influence of the Madden–Julian Oscillation on Ocean Surface Heat Fluxes and Sea Surface Temperature
The Madden–Julian oscillation (MJO) involves pronounced variations in convection and large-scale circulation throughout the tropical troposphere. In addition, the MJO is also related to dynamic and thermodynamic variability near the surface and the upper ocean. This study uses observational data to characterize the changes in surface heat fluxes and sea surface temperature (SST) during the life...
